Ginseng and Harakeke products
Maraeroa C has trialed Wild Simulated Ginsent on it’s land at Pureora under tree canopy for the last 3 years with good results. THe Maraeroa C board has decided to invest in further plantings over the next 3 years to simulate a commercial crop environment and complete further R & D. Market analysis and assessment is also planned over the next 12 months. Wild Simulated Ginseng has huge export potential as an export crop in the form of Dried Root. Ginseng can also be marketed domestically as pure ginseng capsules or as tea.
Bio-Actives
Following extensive research Maraeroa C began establishing a Harakeke Plantation on it’s land at Pureora in 2007 with the goal of harvesting harakeke for it’s fibre and gel. Fibre for us in fashion clothing and Gel for use in lotions and creams. We are keen to explore the potential for these end products and to work alongside other Maori organizations that already have value added competence.
